From Technician to Entrepreneur: My Journey

For many years, I was a self-employed marketer who thought I was an entrepreneur. But after reading The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber, I realized I was actually just a technician having an "entrepreneurial seizure," as he puts it.
I discovered that a real business needs three people: a Technician (who does the work), an Administrator (who manages systems), and an Entrepreneur (who creates the vision). The problem was, I was only ever the technician.
The Challenge
As a freelance webmaster, video creator, and tech specialist, I was stuck doing everything myself:
- Working as the technician (doing the actual work)
- Trying to be the administrator (managing clients and schedules)
- Attempting to be the entrepreneur (growing the business)
But I couldn't afford to hire people for these other roles, and I wasn't naturally good at them myself. My business stayed stagnant for years.
The Breakthrough
Then two things happened simultaneously at the end of 2024:
- I finally understood from The E-Myth that I needed systems, not just skills
- The AI revolution exploded with practical, affordable tools
AI tools could handle administration, marketing, customer service, and data management—all the things that kept me trapped as just a technician.
The Birth of MediaJoy
In November 2024, I founded MediaJoy AI Automation with a simple mission: help other solopreneurs escape the same trap I was in.
I'm not trying to replace the human touch that makes small businesses special. I'm giving business owners the freedom to focus on what they do best by automating everything else.
